Mastership - What does it mean to be The Master
The focus of the evening was directed to junior masons who have not yet had the honour of being the Master of the Lodge. A discussion took place with some short presentations from Past Masters as to what it meant to each of them to be the Master of the Lodge. The evening provided an explanation as to the duties of the Master and some insight as to what is expected.
Mastership
Executive duties
Pastoral duties
Ambassadorial activities
Mediating
Mentoring
Chairman
But above all these, there is something referred to by ancient wisdom schools as disciplic succession.
All those masters before you, upon whose shoulders YOU rest on. They in turn rest on the shoulders of every master tracing back to the ONE.
This collective flow, this aggregate becomes formidable the moment it is seen as an asset, a blessing and not a burden.
For this out pouring of accumulated energy into the incoming vessel is graced with sanctity and purpose.
The aspiration of every lodge member must necessarily be Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. Each mason should, as our working tools advise and exhort us to, rule his lodging place, that is; his body and mind as a temple.
This microcosmic example, this template of consciousness, can become exponential and can lift the body of the lodge as the master opens in higher degrees.
This singular mass energy, this harmonized lodge A Master ship.
This is our Mandate.
